At MSK Vets, we provide referral services for local veterinary practices and support pets with arthritis, joint pain, and mobility issues. Our team combines extensive clinical experience with the latest advances in regenerative therapies, including stem cells and platelet-rich plasma (PRP).
We have been helping the veterinary profession and pet owners for many years, supporting animals of all breeds, sizes, and ages. Our team has played a key role in developing the use of stem cell and PRP therapies in veterinary medicine, originally in horses and now adapted for dogs and cats.
Our mission:
We pride ourselves on providing a relaxed, supportive environment for pets and owners, ensuring that every animal receives the care and attention they need to live comfortably and actively.
“I graduated from the University of Liverpool School of Veterinary Science in 2004 and joined the Royal Army Veterinary Corps just a few months later.
I have been very lucky to be able to spend most of my career working with Military Working Dogs, selecting them for training, looking after them during their time in service, and even deploying with them to Iraq!
Read MoreI spent six and a half years being in command of the Veterinary Training Squadron at the Defence Animal Training Regiment in Melton Mowbray, caring for the Regiment’s dogs and horses, and being a referral centre for all of Defence’s working dogs across the UK and deployed on overseas operations. This has included breeds such as Labradors, Spaniels, and German Shepherds, plus a few more unusual breeds like the Irish Wolfhounds and even a German Jagdterrier! Some of my most enjoyable times in my 17 year Army career have been caring for the ‘old and bold’ dogs as they prepare to leave service and become family pets. Lameness assessments, radiographic surveys looking for signs of arthritis, treatment and exercise plans, and managing work and training are all parts of a holistic plan tailor-made for each dog. I have a passion for improving quality of life in dogs and am very excited to be able to partake in MSK Vets’s goal to help improve the treatment and management of chronic pain.
When not in work my wife and I (she’s also a vet!) try to keep up with our two young children and enjoy travel, natural history, and generally being outdoors.”
Scooby, Kelly’s loveable fox red Labrador, and the ultimate couch potato! He is happiest cuddled up next to you and always has to carry his favourite toy (though Quill enjoys trying to chew it). Ear scratches are Scooby’s weakness and will nuzzle you for as many as he can get.
“My motivation for choosing to work for MSK Vets has come from having seen pateints’ lifespan cut short due to Osteoarthritis. This has fuelled my interest in the varying treatment options and the desire to help clients give their pets the best possible quality of life.”
Having come from Spain in 2023 at the age of around 6 months Xena now lives with vet nurse mum Arianne. Together they enjoy walks, trying to find treasure while metal detecting, making sure squirrels stay up in trees (where they belong) and relaxing in front of the fire in the evening. Apart from keeping mum company Xena has a fulltime job at Nupsala as she is the resident manager of mayhem and mischief.
Kelly has always had a passion for animals, particularly focusing on their health and well-being in relation to muscoskeletal and arthitic conditions. She holds a qualification in Canine Hydrotherapy and has a strong background working within the veterinary industry.
Quill, Kelly’s lively black Labrador with boundless energy. He loves a long walk, playing with his brother Scooby and going on an adventure running alongside his mum . When not enjoying the great outdoors he enjoys tearing apart his toys (no toy is invincible to Quill) and getting a belly scratch.
“Joining the MSK Vets team has been an absolute pleasure. As a veterinarian interested in internal medicine and sonography, it’s incredibly rewarding to apply my expertise in musculoskeletal ultrasound within such a dedicated and skilled team. MSK Vets boasts a fantastic group of professionals, and it’s an honour to be part of this exceptional practice.”
Milo, our charming feline companion, who joined the family in 2016 after a challenging start in Italy following a car accident. Unfortunately, no one came forward to reclaim him, so he quickly settled into his new role as king of the household. Milo’s exact age remains a mystery, but he doesn’t let that stop him from daily adventures, exploring the village, socialising with neighbours, and graciously accepting affection from everyone he meets. He confidently maintains his royal status, both at home and beyond
“I graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2011. During my veterinary degree I intercalated and got a degree in conservation medicine and spent time working at Chester Zoo.
Read MoreSince then I have been in first opinion practice seeing a wide variety of medical and surgical cases mainly dogs and cats but also quite a few exotics.
As such I have seen a wide variety of sizes of animal from dormice to Newfoundland dogs and treated everything from routine boosters to out of hours and emergency work. During this time I became interested in arthritis and chronic pain; specifically the mechanisms that causes acute pain to become chronic, medical management and owner interventions. I’m currently part way through the World Small Animal Veterinary Association certificate in Chronic Pain Management.
When not working I am usually kept busy by my wife, daughter and twin boys. I enjoy amateur dramatics and cooking. I have a border terrier called Monty and 2 guinea pigs called Elt and John.”
Monty Nayar is Adam’s first pet. He is currently 8 years old and despite breaking his leg early on in his life, hasn’t let it stop him from climbing all the sofas and beds to get the most comfortable position. He is very tolerant with the children although is known to sometimes chew their toys. He likes long walks, open fires and peanut butter.
At MSK Vets, we provide specialist musculoskeletal assessment and treatment for dogs and cats. Most cases require a referral from your primary care vet, so we can receive all the necessary medical information to provide the best care and treatment options for your pet.
Your vet makes the referral
Your vet can submit the referral via our Online Referrals page.
They will provide us with your pet’s medical history, recent imaging, and any other relevant information. Once the referral is received, we will discuss potential solutions and treatment options with you when the appointment is booked.
Direct owner queries
Pet owners can contact us for general information, but a referral from your vet is required before any treatment or diagnostic procedures, except for a baseline gait analysis where you can call us or email us and refer yourself.
To help us provide the best care and reduce stress for your pet:
If you have any further questions or have specific requirements, please contact us via phone 01664 778187 or email info@mskvets.co.uk
A referral is a way for veterinary professionals to work together to ensure your pet receives the best possible care. By coordinating with your primary vet, we can deliver tailored treatment plans, including gait analysis, regenerative therapies, and arthritis management, with continuity of care.
